Sulets

»ÆÉ«²Ö¿â’s university-owned halls are only available for undergraduate and international students. However, we work closely with , the recommended lettings agency for »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â and University of Leicester students looking for private rented accommodation. It is jointly owned and run by the Students’ Unions of »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â and University of Leicester.

Sulets offers a wide range of private accommodation options specifically for students, including houses, flats, studios and private halls of residence.

International postgraduate students can book accommodation through our accommodation team.


Types of rooms

Apartments, flats or studios are ideal for postgraduates or mature students who want a convenient, private and stylish place to study. Alternatively, you can choose from a fantastic selection of over 150 student houses. Student houses range from self-contained flats with en-suite facilities to houses with large communal spaces for you to socialise and relax in.

  1. Private student halls

    These are similar to university-owned halls of residence where multiple students share a flat with their own bedroom. They are popular for their convenience and community feel. Bills are usually included and they have shared communal areas like kitchens, study spaces and living rooms, as well as on-site facilities like gyms, laundry rooms and security.

  2. Studios

    Studios are ideal for those who want privacy, or those who are moving in with a partner. They are self-contained with a combined bedroom and kitchen area with a private en-suite bathroom. They offer independence, privacy and quiet, but typically come at a higher cost. Depending on the provider, dual occupancy may be allowed.

    Some private university hall providers offer studio rooms, which are ideal if you want your own space but still be part of secure student-only accommodation and have access to shared on-site facilities including gyms, social and games rooms, and laundry.

  3. Shared student houses

    Great for a social, homely experience living with other students. You share a house with other students, with your own bedroom and a shared kitchen and bathroom (unless you choose an en-suite option). They often have lower rent. Bills may or may not be included.

  4. Flats

    Flats are ideal if you’re looking for privacy, quiet and independence – whether you’re living alone, with friends or a partner. They have a living room, kitchen, bedroom(s) and either a shared or en-suite bathroom.

Key things to consider

  • Location: The »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â campus is in Leicester city centre, so many students choose to live within walking distance. Consider how close you would like to live and how easy the commute would be to campus.
  • Budget: Prices vary depending on the type and location of accommodation. You will typically pay more for en-suite or studio options. You may want to also check whether rent includes bills.
  • Length of tenancy: Some contracts are longer than others. Check that the contract length matches your study period.
  • What’s included: Check for furnished options and essentials like a bed, desk, wardrobe, kitchen appliances, laundry facilities, bike storage, etc.

Signing a tenancy contract

This is a really important step, and we advise that you don’t rush it. Take your time when choosing accommodation and signing a contract. After all, once you have signed, you will be bound by the contract.

We recommend you view properties and read all contracts carefully before signing a tenancy. If you have any concerns or are unsure about anything, staff in the Students’ Union Welfare and Education Centre can look over housing contracts before you sign them.
