Personal Profile

Rob has been working as an Educational Technologist at »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â since 2011. Prior to that he worked as a Lecturer on the Undergraduate Music, Technology and Innovation programme; was a Senior Research Fellow in the Institute of Creative Technologies at »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â; a Teacher Fellow in the Centre for Excellence in the Performing Arts at »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â; and a member of the »ÆÉ«²Ö¿â Music, Technology and Innovation Research group.

Rob's developmental approach to the use of technology in education is experimental and creative, at times exploring technologies that may not on the surface be pedagogically focused but that via experimentation can be subverted to educational ends. Rob believes that it is vitally important to facilitate and encourage participation in such experimental spaces, as it is often in these spaces where innovation occurs.

Rob has significant experience and expertise in the development of digital multimedia content (audio/visual) and web-design; and enjoys exploring the potentials of digital media for teaching and learning through an experimental prototyping approach. Rob's pedagogic interests include scenario-based teaching and learning, applied learning, authentic assessment, open education, widening participation in HE, transitions into and through HE, and EDI.

Rob is also an active electroacoustic music composer and has had many of his works broadcast and performed internationally. His academic writings on aspects of electroacoustic music have also been published internationally.
